Detailed Conversation Highlights
Catriona considers herself a mix of introvert and extrovert in her behavior, although she identifies as a true introvert. She understands and appreciates the importance of interpersonal feedback, but recognizes that she needs solitude and reflection in order to recharge her energy. She states the importance of recognizing your unique personality traits to best know how to present yourself to the outside world. Marketing and PR can be a winning combination when establishing yourself, but the landscape has changed and entrepreneurs — especially introverts must learn to adapt. Even though Social Media has made it easier for introverts to interact with others and the press, there is a skill set to develop to effectively promote yourself to the media. Furthermore, it is still paramount to engage in various types of public speaking.
Catriona faced many challenges when she began to market herself in terms of promoting herself and her brand to others in public. Her fear and self-doubt were so limiting that she sought behavioral guidance, going as far as coaching and hypnosis. She recognized it was imperative to overcome her limitations in order to flourish in her branding and promotional efforts. After a string of successes, she realized that she was the only one holding herself back — and that she was completely capable of introducing others to her vision.
