A few days ago, I received the following message through my Facebook account from Cari, a former colleague in Michigan:
Dear Beth,
I have started a project and you are a part of it. On March 1st, I began devoting a few minutes of my yoga practice and meditation to one of my Facebook friends and tomorrow is your day.
My prayer for you tomorrow will be something along the lines of this…I wish you gratitude. I wish you the wisdom to listen to your inner voice and the courage to do what it tells you. I wish you joy, health and peace. I wish you the energy to be kind to yourself and others daily. I am grateful that you are in this world and I am thankful that your path crossed mine. I cherish the smiles, laughs and kindnesses we’ve shared. I send you my energy and love.
Beyond this simple meditation, I would be honored to offer up a more specific prayer for you if there is anything you are inclined to share. But even as I write this, I suspect that if I received this kind of random message from a friend or acquaintance, I would think it was a bit nutty so please don’t feel obliged to respond. Thank you for humoring my inner voice – she’s a bit quirky.
What a beautiful idea! Cari is intentionally bringing her friends into her thoughts, and in the process, she’s sending and receiving positive energy.
We are all energetic beings. We are constantly sending out signals, moods, energy, vibrations… whatever you want to call it. Whether this is science or woo-woo airy-fairy doesn’t really matter in the long run. What I know is that when I am living from love, I feel lighter, more open and generous. When I am living from fear, I feel heavy, constricted and territorial.
Cari’s practice is a wonderful way to call forward more love and gratitude into her life. Reading her e-mail, I developed a case of “Me, too!” I intend to do something similar by sitting in quiet meditation for five minutes each morning and allowing a person to come to heart and mind. I am going to hold that person in a warm, safe space, give thanks for their presence and gifts, and send wishes for clarity, trust and love.
Our energy and intention is powerful and profound. How will you choose to channel your energy?
